287 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine P aul A. Suhr, Esq., became involved in law because he thoroughly enjoyed helping others. Upon arrival to the United States from Korea in 1966, Mr. Suhr pursued formal education. He received a BA in English from Campbell University in 1968 and an MA in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1970. He subsequently earned an MS in library science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1975. He worked as a bibliographer at the North Carolina Division of State Libraries from 1975 to 1978, director of Pender County Library from 1978 to 1980, and librarian at North Carolina State University from 1980 to 1985. Mr. Suhr earned a JD from North Carolina Central University in 1988. Since 1989, Mr. Suhr has worked at his private practice, the Law Offices of Paul A. Suhr PLLC, in Raleigh and Fayetteville, North Carolina. Mr. Suhr represent clients in the areas of immigration and naturalization law, criminal defense, business law and personal injury. Over his 30-year tenure, Mr. Suhr has represented numerous clients and granted them victory in their cases. Memorable career highlights include winning asylum for a Congolese girl who witnessed the rape of her mother by soldiers, winning asylum for a Honduran boy who was raped and abused by gangs, winning freedom for a mother convicted of murder for the death of her child who died in an accident, and winning freedom of her son from ICE custody for over one year for the octogenarian mother. The most rewarding part of Mr. Suhr’s profession is being involved in volunteer programs to encourage opportunities for minority high school students. He feels a deep connection to the program and says it is important to have empathy as a lawyer. Mr. Suhr is a member of the American Bar Association, American Association for Justice, American Immigration Lawyers Association, North Carolina Bar Association, North Carolina Trial Lawyers Association and Wake County Bar Association. He was a grantee of the North Carolina Humanities Committee in 1979 and was the recipient of the Presidential Award from the President of Korea in 1992. PAUL A. SUHR, ESQ.
