146 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION A fter more than 30 years of teaching art at the Kankakee Valley High School in Wheatfield, Indiana, Sarabeth Reif Miller retired in 2010. Following in her mother’s footsteps, she previously was an art teacher at DeMotte Elementary School from 1972 to 1976. Additionally, she served as an office worker at Hannon’s, Jasper County Co-op, Little Co. of Mary Hospital and Home, and the Porter County Herald between 1954 and 1972. Ms. Miller received a BA in 1972 and an MA in liberal studies in 1977, both from Valparaiso University. She also completed postgraduate coursework at Purdue University, Indiana University Bloomington, the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Indiana State University and Saint Joseph’s University. She is most proud that she passed on a way for young people to accomplish greatness. Awarded for her exceptional contributions to education and art, Ms. Miller was the recipient of the Jasper County Art League Award and is a Lilly Endowment Fellow. She was a 4H leader for 60 years and is a member of the Archaeological Institute of America, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Smithsonian Institution and Kankakee Valley Historical Society. SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATOR (RETIRED) Kankakee Valley High School Kouts, IN U pon arrival to the United States in 1958, Dr. Malhotra became interested in artificial material and nephrology, and later attended Case Western Reserve University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in 1978, PhD in 1984 and MD in 1985. Dr. Malhotra has been a professor at the University of Toledo (formerly the Medical College of Ohio) since 2003. Previously, he served as an associate professor from 1997 to 2003, as well as a medical director of renal transplantation and chief of the nephrology division. Additionally, Dr. Malhotra was a staff physician at the Albuquerque VA Medical Center, medical director of Southland Dialysis, and an assistant professor at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Malhotra maintains affiliation with the International Society of Nephrology, American Society of Nephrology, American College of Physicians, American Chemical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science and the University of Toledo’s Institutional Review Board. In light of his success and expertise in his fields of study, he was granted an endowed professorship in nephrology at the University of Toledo in 2014 and was a grantee of the American Heart Association in 1994.
