28 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine Heineman’s 1993 work “Campus Wars: The Peace Movement at American State Universities in the Vietnam Era.” Mr. Fish was inspired and motivated by two former academic advisors in college, Walter Gourlay at Michigan State and Scott Gordon at Indiana University Bloomington. His advice to aspiring writers – just like the advice he was given – is to simply persevere, and success will eventually come your way. Mr. Fish is a member of the Indiana Blues Society, Democratic Socialists of America, Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, Central Indiana Socialist Coalition, Freedom From Religion Foundation, and the Indianapolis Peace and Justice Center. Alongside his writing career, Mr. Fish performs Lenny Bruce- and George Carlin-inspired stand- up comedy. With a sardonic sense of wit, he likes to think he can overcome adversity and hardship through humor. A n active reader in his adolescent years, George Fish has always felt a connection to the written word and later pursued a career in the world of creativity. Mr. Fish received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Indiana University Bloomington in 1977, and he attended Michigan State University from 1965 to 1972. Additionally, Mr. Fish is a certified paralegal and was certified in Chinese by Washington University in St. Louis in 1970. Since 1981, Mr. Fish has been a freelance writer, and since 1988, a freelance paralegal writer and researcher. Mr. Fish has had 24 poems published since 2007, and he has been a contributor of numerous articles to reputable publications, including The Guardian, In These Times, Living Blues, Skeptical Inquirer, The Bloomington Voice, Socialism and Democracy, New Politics, Against the Current, The Flying Island Journal and The Tipton Poetry Journal, among numerous others. After finding a ready market for his work, Mr. Fish calls having his short story “Prom Night” published in Inprint Magazine of the Indiana Writer the highlight of his career.
