225 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine DR. ROBERT MOORE ONEAL PLASTIC SURGEON, EDUCATOR Ann Arbor, MI to help people. Now a diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Oneal lead a distinguished 40-year career while also serving in the military reserves. In 1954, Dr. Oneal achieved a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College, and in 1957, obtained a Doctor of Medicine from Harvard University. He completed an internship and residency in general surgery by 1963 and a residency in plastic surgery by 1966, both at the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Oneal commenced his career in 1966 at a private practice in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he treated patients for 40 years until his retirement in 2006. Additionally, from 1980 to 2006, he was a clinical professor of surgery at the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Oneal is a contributor of numerous articles to medical journals, including the renowned journals Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. Collaborating with Lauralee A. Lutz, he was the co-author of “Leaders in Plastic Surgery: The Dingman-Grabb Era, 1946-1986” in 2017. To remain abreast of industry changes, Dr. Oneal is a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons and the Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music, playing golf and playing the piano. Looking back on his career, Dr. Oneal found great happiness in being able to work with and teach young, up-and-coming surgeons. With great colleagues, bright students and a successful private practice, Dr. Oneal says he would not change one thing about his career. He thanks the mentors who motivated and inspired him since his high school years, including Peter Franzen, William Fry and Reid Dingman. D r. Robert Moore Oneal vowed to become a doctor at the age of 9 after his grandfather fell ill with pancreatic cancer.
