48 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine AUTHOR Boulder, CO A renowned educator and social entrepreneur, Roger P. Briggs is celebrated for his impressive aptitude in physics education, team building, science writing, activism, stewardship and rock climbing. He became interested in physics when he took freshman physics at the University of Colorado from Professor Albert Bartlett. Inspired by Professor Bartlett, Mr. Briggs pursued an education at the University of Colorado, earning a BA in physics and an MA in science education. Mr. Briggs touched many lives over his 30 years with Boulder Valley Schools, starting as a mathematics and life science teacher at Southern Hills Junior High before becoming a physics teacher and cross country coach at Fairview High in 1976. While at Fairview, he created the two- year AP/IB physics course, the first of its kind in the world. He is also a nationally-known rock climber with 55 years of experience. Since retiring from teaching in 2005, Mr. Briggs authored “Journey to Civilization: The Science of How We Got Here” in 2013. He also founded the Boulder Climbing Community in 2010, serving as its director until 2018. He is currently working on a new book, tentatively titled “Emerging World.” ROGER P. Borst received a Bachelor of Science from Holy Cross College in 1965, a Master of Arts from St. John’s University in 1969 and a PhD from St. Louis University in 1972. From 1972 to 1974, and later from 1991 to 1997, he was a history instructor at Maryville University in Saint Louis, Missouri. During his first years at Maryville University, he taught the first accredited course in baseball history in the Midwest, leading to his appearance on NBC’s “Today Show” in 1974. For 22 years, he hosted his own radio talk show on WGNU in St. Louis. The founder and an active member of the St. Louis Brown Historical Society since 1984, Dr. Borst is the author of numerous published works, his most prominent being the bestseller “The St. Louis Browns: The Story of a Beloved Team,” published in 2017. Additionally, he was a featured editor of the Mindszenty Foundation for 11 years and also a frequent contributor to CatholicJournal.us. Notably, Dr. Borst was the recipient of the St. Louis University Stauder Alumni Merit Award in 1995, the Birthright Award in 1996 and the Mindszenty Foundation Freedom Award in 2011.
