85 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ROSE ANN FLEMING, PHD SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT Xavier University Cincinnati, OH private Cincinnati practice since 1989. She is also involved with the non-profit, “Casa de Paz,” translated to “House of Peace.” Dr. Fleming received a BA from Mount St. Joseph University in 1954, an MA in English from the University of Detroit in 1964 and an MEd from Xavier University in 1969. Additionally, Dr. Fleming achieved a PhD in educational administration from Miami University in Ohio in 1973, an MBA from Xavier University in 1984 and a JD from the Northern Kentucky University Chase School of Law in 1988. In 1954, Dr. Fleming commenced her career as a Latin, English and social studies teacher at Mount Notre Dame High School. In 1960, she became a faculty member at the Summit Country Day School and was promoted to head of school by 1967. Moving up to the collegiate level, Dr. Fleming was the president of Trinity College in Washington from 1975 to 1982 and an academic administrator at Xavier University in 1982. The co-author of “Out of Habit,” Dr. Fleming was notably chosen as one of the four great Cincinnatians by the Chamber of Commerce in 2019 and also received the Friars Award from Friar’s Club in 2019. She feels very fortunate to have had good help throughout her career, God’s blessings and guidance from her mentor, John F. Koons. Dr. Fleming believes that without being able to have a connection with people and relating to them, it would be quite difficult to build a solid foundation in both education and law. Dr. Fleming sat on the board for the Legal Aid Society and has been a volunteer at the Lawyers Project for more than 30 years. The advice she can offer to the next generation in education or law is to respect everyone who comes your way, as you cannot judge someone’s life until you have walked in their shoes. C ertified by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Roman Catholic Church in 1954, Dr. Rose Ann Fleming always knew she wanted to serve people, and she found education to be her medium. Since 2010, she has served as special assistant to the president of Xavier University, and has also been practicing law through a EDUCATION
