107 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine B efore spearheading her career, Jaydene Morrison always felt a commitment to the well-being of children and subsequently entered the field of psychology in search for answers to help them. She received a BS in 1955 and an MS in 1957, both from Oklahoma State University, with additional postgraduate studies completed at the University of Colorado, University of Central Oklahoma and the University of Denver. Today, Ms. Morrison is a certified counselor, school psychologist and licensed marriage and family therapist, and serves as president and director of Ventures in Learning, Inc. Ms. Morrison commenced her career as an educator at Cushing Public School in Oklahoma in 1955, and in 1958, was an educator for Indianapolis Public Schools. From 1965 to 1973, she served as a counselor and special education teacher at Helena-Goltry Public Schools in Oklahoma, where she was introduced to the role of a counselor. She continued to move up in her career, serving as a psychometrist for the Oklahoma State Title III Program, and from 1977 to 1985, a school psychologist for the Oklahoma State Department of Education. For her success in school and child counseling, as well as work with distressed farmers, Ms. Morrison was named Outstanding Citizen of the Year by the Oklahoma chapter of the National Association of Social Workers in 1988, which she calls the highlight of her career. Additionally, she was the recipient of the Special Award fromOklahomaWomen for Agriculture in 1979 and the Teacher of the Year Award from the Helena Masonic Lodge in 1967. Ms. Morrison is a member or past member of the Learning Disabilities Association of Oklahoma, Garfield County Interagency Task Force, Oklahoma School Psychological Association, National Association of School Psychologists, Biofeedback Society of America, National Board for Certified Counselors, Chi Omega and Delta Kappa Gamma. Ms. Morrison is the author of “Coping with ADD/ADHD,” “I’m Not Sick, Society Is!: A 5 Step Drug Free Parent/Teacher Guide” and “I Hate You, Miss Bliss.” She also co-authored “Coping with a Learning Disability.” Looking ahead, Ms. Morrison aims to complete her current book series.
