33 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. Forte is a lauded musician, pianist and musical educator who has thrilled audiences across five continents with her interpretations of iconic classical compositions. Motivated and mentored by her aunt, she began her career in the performing arts in 1952, debuting at 13 years old at a Beethoven festival in France, which was met with an ovation and rave reviews. She has since become accomplished as a recording artist, having appeared on NBC Television, Radiodiffusion-Television Française, Television O Globo, Radio Television Buenos Aires and Radio Warsaw. Dr. Forte has flourished as a performer who toured alongside her late husband, Allen Forte, as well as through solo recitals around the world. A founding member of the Bel-Être Ensemble and the Lillibridge Ensemble, she has collaborated with Polish cellist Mariusz Skula. Moreover, she was a piano professor at the Morrison Center for the Performing Arts at Boise State University, teaching from 1971 to 1997, and directing the pianist-in-residence and the foreign student programs, where she created scholarships. One student of hers exclaimed, “I am so lucky and blessed to have studied with you. You changed my life and for that I will always be grateful.” A graduate of The Juilliard School, Dr. Forte received a PhD from New York University. She found success with her written works as well, penning articles and books. “Olivier Messiaen: The Musical Mediator” was published in 1996, and her autobiography, “Simply Madeleine,” is available on Amazon.com in various languages. The artistic director for Romeo Records, Dr. Forte has recorded her performances on compact discs. She was a fellow of Silliman College and a Hendon Fellow at Yale University, and a fellow of the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities. She has been a prize winner in international competitions in Italy, Spain and Brazil. Dr. Forte was recognized as a guest pianist by the First National Symposium of Musical Analytics at the Shanghai Conservatory and International Music Festivals at Yale University. She is the recipient of the Josef Lhevinne Memorial Award and Idaho Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts.
