43 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT five stained glass windows for a local church, marbleized the 12 church columns, raised brick plaster around the church windows, painted 18 family members in a 22-foot long mural, and has painted numerous murals in Spain, Florida, Texas and New Mexico, along with more of her artwork featured in China and the United States. Ms. Schulte commenced her career in 1979 as a substitute teacher at Los Lunas Public School. She served the school until 1988 while also substitute teaching for St. Charles and St. Mary’s from 1983 to 1988. For two years, Ms. Schulte was a teller at the First National Bank in Bosque Farms, New Mexico, and from 1997 to 2000, she was an art teacher at Resurrection Catholic School in Lakeland, Florida. Notably, in 2017 Ms. Schulte was the recipient of the Martha Washington Award for work on the Purple Heart and the New Mexico Humanitarian Award from the JJC. In 1995 and 1996, she was granted theWoman of the Year Award. Ms. Schulte is most proud of the largest mural she has worked on, which was four stories high and 60 feet long on a curved hanging canvas. She dedicated 180 hours of work to complete that project. Ms. Schulte calls A Park Above, her former community project, the greatest accomplishment of her career. The first fully-inclusive and accessible playground in New Mexico, the park features therapeutic equipment, including wheel chair swings and specialized water fountains. She also incorporated murals, mosaics and stained glass into the mix of family fun. Ms. Schulte is a member of the Rio-Grand Artists Association, New Mexico Art League, Festival of Trees for Carrie Tingley Hospital, Rio Rancho Rotary Club, of which she is also community chair and youth executive officer, and is the Inside Superintendent for the Bosque Farms County Fair. S pecializing in oils, acrylics, jewelry, stained glass, raised plaster, murals and mosaics, Vera Jennie Schulte is a volunteer community artist in the Albuquerque area.
