HALASI-KUN MANAGER OF CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR EMPLOYEE BENEFITS (RETIRED) Con Edison New Milford, CT Con Edison in New York City. As he worked on his undergraduate degree during the height of the Vietnam War, Mr. Halasi- Kun chose to join ROTC rather than be drafted. He was eventually sent to Vietnam, where he initially served as a supply officer, finance officer and infantry company executive officer. Upon his return, he worked in the hospitality industry while serving in the active army reserve. During his years in the reserves, Mr. Halasi- Kun was able to have a dual career track. From 1968 to 1971, he was a manager and director of food service with Saga Admin Corp. In New York City, he worked for Con Edison as an organizational development consultant and manager of management development, performance improvement and customer service for employee benefits from 1976 to 2003. Notably, Mr. Halasi-Kun received an Army Commendation Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster and an Army Meritorious Service Medal. He holds a Certificate of Recognition from the City of New Milford, Connecticut, for past services and his publication of “Upper Merryall Cemetery: A Brief History.” He was also named Commissioner of the Year for Litchfield County by the Connecticut Association of Conservation and Inland Wetlands Commissions. Mr. Halasi-Kun is a member of the Civil Affairs Association and Reserve Officers Association, and was a past president of Weantinoge Heritage. He currently serves as chairman of the New Milford Conservation Commission and Sexton for Upper Merryall Cemetery Association. Born in Hungary during World War II, his family immigrated first to Turkey as refugees and later to the U.S. In 1964 he joined the U.S. military. Despite, at times, having a stressful childhood, Mr. Halasi-Kun believes all people are generally good and we need to look for the positive whenever possible. A dam T. Halasi-Kun received a BS from New York University in 1966 and an MBA from St. John’s University in 1975, and also graduated from the Command and General Staff College in 1978.
