64 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine F ollowing years spent in Washington, D.C., Katherine Todd made the move back to the West Coast in 1968 for family needs and to job hunt. She commenced her career with the Carnation Co. as Assistant Personnel Manager for the corporate offices until 1972, when she was promoted to Personnel Manager. In 1974, she was promoted to Labor RelationsManager, and in 1979 until her retirement in 1987, she served as Director of EEO affairs. In addition to her corporate background, Ms. Todd is a filmmaker and served as the co-founder and president of the Burnt Meringue Production Company from1993 to 1997. In her filmcareer, Ms. Todd worked as producer for two commercials and for the New York Film and TV Festival gold medal-winning film “The Celebration.” In 1990, she was the recipient of the Best Student Film Award from the Youth in Film Awards, as well as the Media Access Award. Additionally, Ms. Todd is the author of the 2016 memoir “Reaching for the Stars,” inspired by her father. Ms. Todd is backed by coursework from the University of California Los Angeles’ Extension Program in Film, and she holds a BA from the University of San Francisco in 1983. Additionally, upon taking her Carnation Co. position, Ms. Todd took classes in labor management, labor negotiations and bargaining at the California Institute of Technology. Ms. Todd is a member and past president of the SCC of the National Museum of Women in the Arts. She served as a Court-Appointed Advocate for Children for 17 years prior to moving to University Village as a senior community in Thousand Oaks, California. She has been active in the New West Symphony League and chairs a Committee on Health and Wellness. Ms. Todd’s personal definition of success is when someone says “thank you” to her. She attributes much of her success to Tony Burnham and Steve MacArthur, who helped establish her in her career. Ms. Todd’s advice to those aspiring to work in her industry is to set boundaries on a personal level, have integrity and do not be afraid to ask questions.
