317 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine NEIL SAMUEL SULLIVAN, PHD D r. Neil Samuel Sullivan received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in physics, both from University of Otago in New Zealand, and a PhD in physics from Harvard University. His achievements include the investigation of fundamental properties of solid hydrogen and solid helium at low temperatures. However, the highlight of his career was the establishment of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. Commencing his career as a research physicist at the Centre d’Etudes Nucléaires in France from 1974 to 1982, Dr. Sullivan devoted the remainder of his career to the University of Florida in Gainesville. He has served as a physics professor since 1983 and was the dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for six years. Likewise, he was the co-founder of the Micro Kelvin Research Laboratory and is a former associate dean and physics department chair. Dr. Sullivan is a fellow of the American Physical Society. To attest to his success, he was named Teacher of the Year in 1988, received the Prix LaCaze in 1982 and earned the Prix Saintour in 1978.
