326 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine C oming from a lineage of seamstresses and textile designers, Norma R. Tennapel-Chicklo began making her own clothes in kindergarten, already certain she wanted to one day become a designer. By age 15, she was accepted into fashion school, making her the youngest student to be accepted at the time. She studied coursework in fashion design, pattern making, textiles, apparel, manufacturing, fine art and commercial art at the London School of Art and Hollins College in Manchester, England. Now in her retirement, Ms. Tennapel-Chicklo has had a reputable career in the United Kingdom designing children’s wear, ladies’ wear, coats and raincoats, and working for major apparel manufacturers, as well as for a design consulting companies in Singapore and Hong Kong. She has participated in numerous fashion shows for buyers in Europe, Australia and New Zealand and designed for labels throughout Asia. Bringing her fashion career to the United States, Ms. Tennapel-Chicklo also served as a judge at the Ms. America, Scottsdale, Phoenix, Arizona, Utah and Texas pageants Since 2015, Ms. Tennapel-Chicklo has served as the co-chair of the Ocala Royal Dames for Cancer Research, whose mission is to support innovative cancer treatment breakthroughs. She is also the founder of Naples International Fine Arts and Portraits in Scottsdale, Arizona, which she spearheaded with her son in 2000. Ms. Tennapel-Chicklo attributes her success to always having goals and working hard to achieve whatever it was that she wanted. Growing up in post-war England, she saw others with far less, giving her empathy for the poor, sick and less fortunate. She knew that once she was able to, it was her duty to give back. Ms. Tennapel-Chicklo is a former member of the Naples Sailing and Yacht Club, Grass Roots Women’s League, Pelican Bay Women’s League, Naples Art Society, Von Liebig Gallery, Scottsdale Tempe Foundation and International Business Women. She was the second vice president of the Ocala Royal Dames for Cancer Research. NORMA R.
