HERRIN Millennium Magazine Featured Listee U pon studying to become a certified public accountant, when introduced to the world of computers, Colette M. Herrin halted her endeavors to pursue a career in technology. In 1984, she obtained an AS in computer programming from South Puget Community College, and for the past 25 years, she has had a fruitful career beginning as a computer programmer and working her way up to senior systems analyst. Since 2008, Ms. Herrin has been the respected owner, bookkeeper and consultant for Warranty Enterprises, LLC. A certified Aflac insurance agent with a Triple Crown Award in sales, she was also a creative consultant for PFAFF Sewing Machines. She spent over three years with the U.S. Army, and remains a great patriot through her work making quilts for soldiers. She has sewn many quilts for several groups who furnish wounded warriors with red, white and blue quilts. Alongside her skills, she became a pastor in 2014 to live out her dedication to her faith. She attributes her success to her diligent work ethic and people skills. In five years’ time, she hopes to enjoy independence and continue her efforts as a quilter, pastor and consultant. E xcelling in mathematics beyond her peers in high school, Deborah Ann Downey was granted access to the computer room (rare in the 1970s), and got involved in the programming world. She received an AAS from Sinclair Community College in 1981, and later achieved a BA in computer science from Capital University in 1994. Since 2011, Ms. Downey has served as a senior QA analyst for Speedway LLC in Enon, Ohio. She previously spent 25 years with the Computer Science Corporation as a systems programmer, and was their senior programmer, analyst and project leader in 1984. Additionally, Ms. Downey was an analyst for Unisys from 1984 to 1987, a senior programmer for Systems Architects, Inc., for two years, and commenced her career with the Cole-Layer-Trumble Co. in 1981 as a junior programmer. She was also a computer software consultant for M&S Garage/Body Shop in 1986. Dedicated to putting out a good product, Ms. Downey thrives in keeping scammers and frauds fromhacking systems. She is amember of the National Association of Female Executives, American Motorcyclist Association, Sinclair Community College Alumni Association, Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and Cherokee National Historical Society.
