119 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine W ith an interest in electricity, radio and aviation from an early age, Dr. C. Bart Whitehouse earned a BS in 1957 from Central Connecticut State College. Subsequently, he also earned an MS in 1974 and an EdD 1977, both from the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Whitehouse is known for flying a Cessna 172 plane into the jungles of Guatemala as part of field research in tropical high frequency radio propagation and for flying a Cessna 205 plane to a remote Alaskan site for research on arctic high frequency radio propagation. He earned the Radio Club of America 2009 Batcher Memorial Award for Preservation of Radio History, andwas named a 2003 laureate by the Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame. Dr. Whitehouse was recruited by the Griffith Opportunity School in Denver to write manuals and equip laboratories for the new Electrical Technology programs. With the increasing demand for land-mobile public safety and commercial two-way radio technicians, he created, wrote, equipped and instructed the Communication Technology laboratory course. The success of the program prompted requests from the aviation/ avionics industry to train Avionics technicians for air carrier and general aviation FAA certificated repair stations. He implemented, wrote, equipped and instructed the Avionics Technician Training laboratory course. In 1990, Dr. Whitehouse designed and established an Avionics for Aviators hands-on laboratory as part of the Professional Pilot candidate curriculum at Metropolitan State College. He served as instructor of the Avionics laboratory and Aviation History course until retiring in 2010. During these years, he was the supplier and vendor of aircraft safety equipment through lnterTech Aviation Services, a family company he and wife Diane founded in 1983. Dr. Whitehouse recalls operating radios for the Earhart Expedition and setting up radio communication to search for remnants of her plane in the Pacific Ocean as career highlights. He earned the Metropolitan State College Certificate of Distinction in 1993, FAA Denver Flight Standards Golden Eagle Award in 2006, and the FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award in 2011. DR. C.
