122 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine W hether it be a kindergarten teach- er or a music teacher, Kay Ellen Woolridge was certain she would become an educator. Backed by her love for children and music, choosing to pursue music education seemed a destined endeavor for Ms. Woolridge’s career. In 1977, she achieved a bachelor’s degree in music education from Longwood University, and that same year, she began her career with the Colonial Heights, Virginia Public Schools as a music teacher. She notably served in her role for 30 years. For her success in music education, Ms. Woolridge was named Teacher of the Year by Tussing Elementary School for the 2000-2001 academic year. In addition to her achievements, she was a charter member and past president of VA Gamma Eta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary for Women Educators, an organization dedicated to excellence in education, altruism and world understanding. She co-authored the VA Alpha Delta Kappa Resource Manual for Establishing New Chapters and established VA Gamma Xi in Dinwiddie and VA Gamma Pi in Prince George. She has held numerous positions in Alpha Delta Kappa, including International IT support for websites created with TeacherWeb, State Music Chairman, and VA Pocahontas District President. Ms. Woolridge attributes much of her success in teaching and her civic duties to the mentors who motivated and inspired her, including her parents, Roland Page and Vivian Mae Williams Jones. She also holds a reputation with Marquis Who’s Who, as she was presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and was featured in the 26th and 27th editions of Who’s Who of American Women. A member of the Heights Baptist Church, Ms. Woolridge participates in her church’s mission work and missions outside of the church. Her family includes her late husband Thomas C. Woolridge Jr. and sonMichael BradleyWoolridge; children Robert, Mark, Lisa and Meredith; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
