124 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine F ascinated by books and school, Dr. Charlotte A. Youngberg loved the process of learning and sought a career in teaching. She received a BEd in elementary education from Northern Iowa University and an MEd from DePaul University. She went on to obtain a DD in Christian counseling, a ThD and a PhD in theology and Christian counseling, all from the Christian Bible College and Seminary. She is also supported by coursework from the University of Oxford, Missouri State University and Northern Illinois University. Post-retirement, Dr. Youngberg and her husband, Lyle Youngberg, have served as the owners of the Youngberg Chapel, Youngberg Cemetery and Youngberg Ranch Supply. Through her theological education, she has dedicated her life to faith, as her family had always attended church and she has a strong emotional connection to religion. She commenced her career as an elementary school teacher at the Des Moines Individual School District and Glenview Public Schools. By 1961, Dr. Youngberg was a teacher and a psychological educational diagnostician for the Schaumburg School District. Thereon, she focused her career on special education and child development. Dr. Youngberg served as supervisor of learning disabilities and behavioral disorders for Springfield Public Schools from 1969 to 1973, a psycho-educational diagnostician for the Barrington School District from 1973 to 1977, and an educational strategist for Area Education Agency 7 until 1990. She then spent 1990 to 2004 as a special education teacher for 11 years and Doctor of Special Education for three years with the Verona Public Schools until her retirement. Additionally, in 1968, she served as an educational consultant to the special education district of Lake County, Illinois. Dr. Youngberg is the author of the 2005 book “Oscar, The Perky GrayMouse.” Dr. Youngberg and Lyle Youngberg were married in 1990. Lyle passed away in 2019.
