125 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. Jim Jian Zhao graduated from Guangdong Medical University in 1982 and earned a PhD in biochemistry from University of Oxford in 1987. After arriving in the U.S., he did postdoctoral fellowships on cancer, diabetes, heart, blood and infectious diseases research at Brandeis University, Rockefeller University, Yale University and National Institutes of Health. In 1993, Dr. Zhao moved to clinical medicine, completing his pathology residencies at Albert Einstein College of Medicine Hospitals, Yale Medical School Hospital and Orlando Health. In 1998, he started a diagnostic laboratory with new specialized consulting practice of HealthMedicine that integrates health promotion and disease prevention to help improve the quality and longevity of human life. In 2002, he was appointed distinguished professor at Nanjing University Medical School and prepared for advancing new health and medical education. In 2005, Dr. Zhao founded Orlando University for Health Medicine to advance a new specialty education of Health Medicine. In 2008, he changed it to Orlando University, establishing the first doctoral degree program in Health Medicine. Since 2011, Orlando University has been granted a tax- exempted nonprofit entity and become the first Voluntarian University since the first universities started. This new higher education model is created based on new concepts and practices of the Human Life Doctrine (HLD) and Voluntarian Higher Education, aiming to enrich higher learning and benefit humanity broadly through utilizing a full potential, spectrum and system of human voluntarian resources. At Yale, Dr. Zhao proposed a new Liability Theory of Disease (LTD) based on new concepts and principles of Cell Population Biology and Pathology that he theorized in four sole authored essays. These pioneering works have built new foundations to establish Health Medicine Specialty and Voluntarian Higher Education for advancing human understanding and practices of better health, science, education, economy and society. He is a Lifetime Fellow of the College of American Pathologists and has an MBA from the University of Central Florida.
