129 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine S ince 2019, Dr. Dorothy Field Chappell has served as a biologist, cell biologist and senior scholar at Wheaton College, as well as dean of natural and social science from 2000 to 2019 and chair of biology from 1980 to 1994. Dr. Chappell received a BS from Longwood University, MS from the University of Virginia and PhD from Miami University in Ohio. Dr. Chappell was an evaluator and consultant for the New England Association of Colleges and Universities and Academic Dean of Gordon College from 1994 to 2000. While serving Wheaton College, she was an evaluator and consultant for the Higher Learning Commission and North Central Association. A 1992 fellow of the American Science Affiliation, she was a listee of “50 Women You Should Know” in Christianity Today and is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 1995, Dr. Chappell was named Outstanding Alumnus and granted the Alumni Achievement Award from Longwood College. She was named an Outstanding Educator of the Chicago Region in 1994. She was also a Fulbright Research Grantee in New Zealand, Australia and Fiji in 1989 and 1990, among other notable recognitions. ACADEMIC INTERVENTIONIST Standish Sterling High School Sterling, MI Millennium Magazine Featured Listee J eannine Coughlin frequently played school with her brothers during their younger years, and she always took on the role of the teacher. As time passed andMs. Coughlin attended college, she considered a pre- law track, but after spending a summer at music camp, she was certain her future stood with music education. In 1992, she graduated with a BA in music education from Saginaw Valley State University. Ms. Coughlin is an academic interventionist at Standish Sterling High School and previously was an instrumental music teacher with Saginaw Public Schools. With a strong background in marching band, Ms. Coughlin was the director of the Michigan High School All Star Band from 2001 to 2006 and Herter Band Camp from 1995 to 2012. She was also the athletic director at Saginaw High School/Saginaw Public Schools from 2015 to 2018. With much success, Ms. Coughlin is proud to have taken the marching band from a low socioeconomic status community and built the program to perform at President Barack Obama’s first Presidential Inauguration. Starting off with a mere 13 children in the program, at one point, Ms. Coughlin was directing and teaching more than 230 students.
