Mara E. Meyer received a BS in speech and hearing science in 1975 and an MS in speech and language pathology in 1975, both from the University of Illinois. In 2010, she achieved an EdD in educational policy and leadership from National Louis University. A certified speech and language pathologist, as well as special education teacher, Dr. Meyer has been the recipient of the National Distinguished Service Award for Speech and Hearing Science. Commencing her career in 1975, Dr. Meyer started off as a speech and language pathologist for the Macon-Piatt Special Education District and Community Consolidated School District #59 in Illinois. She then served as a reading specialist and learning disabilities coordinator for 11 years before returning to speech and language pathology for Adlai Stevenson High School and Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District from 2006 to 2009. Dr. Meyer has been an educational consultant to state education boards, among other educational advocacy roles. She attributes her success to being able to work with people for a common purpose, and she aims to continue making the world a better place. She is a member of the National Education Association. DR. MARA E. MEYER S haron Holliday McDonald received a BS in education from the University of Missouri in 1969 and an MS in education from Kansas State University in 1973. Influenced by her college roommates, Ms. McDonald accompanied them on a trip to a school for the deaf. The people and institution moved her so profoundly that she felt compelled to switch her course of study from mathematics to education. Commencing her career in 1969, Ms. McDonald worked as a special education teacher until her retirement in 2004. She first worked at the Ottumwa Public Schools in Iowa, and one year later, transferred to the Washington Community Schools. From 1971 to 2004, she worked at the Unified School District #336 in Holton, Kansas. Today, Ms. McDonald is a member of the National Education Association, Council for Exceptional Children, Kansas National Education Association, Holton Education Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. For her success in teaching, Ms. McDonald has been professionally recognized by the Council for Exceptional Children. She was named an Outstanding Scholar in the 21st Century from 2000 to 2002 and Outstanding Nutrition Educator by the Midland Dairy Council in 1994. SHARON HOLLIDAY MCDONALD EDUCATION
