183 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine GOVERNMENT AND MILITARY was inducted into the Pennsylvania Honor Roll of Women in 1996. She is also a charter member of the National Council of Women Advisors to the U.S. Congress and is a presidential task force honoree. At the inception of her career, Ms. Michael was a teacher and coach at Media Borough School District in Pennsylvania from 1960 to 1963 and Woodrow Wilson High School in New Jersey from 1963 to 1966. She spent one year as a production manager at an advertising agency before returning to teaching for three years within the Norristown Area School District. Ms. Michael spent one year teaching as an instructor at Rutgers University’s Camden campus in 1972. Since 1982, she has been an educational consultant and academy tutor, and since 1994, a political consultant, both in her Bala Cynwyd neighborhood. She also spends time as a ghostwriter and public speaking coach. She has been a college guest speaker on political activities and women’s roles in politics. Ms. Michael became involved in politics because of the Committee of Seventy, an independent ad- vocacy group founded in 1904 that promotes bet- ter government in Philadelphia. In 1994, she was a candidate for the Republican U.S. Congress prima- ry election, and today she is still involved in poli- tics as Chair Emeritus and a Founder of Montgom- ery County Republican Women’s Leadership. She is a committeewoman on the Montgomery County Republican Party and sat on the Board of Directors for the RepublicanWomen of Main Line. Ms. Michael is a member of the Modern Lan- guage Association, Intercollegiate Studies Institute, Bala CynwydNeighborhoodClub andNational Fed- eration of Republican Women. She is also on the Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth Advisory Board and the Belmont Hills Library Board of Trustees. She also served on the Alumni Board of Governors at St. Joseph’s University. G ayle Granatir Michael began her career in teaching because she wanted to contribute to the development of children. Deeply passionate about politics as well, she modeled herself and her political career after Jacqueline Kennedy. She received a BA from Temple University and an MA from St. Joseph’s University.
