187 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine J anice Leah Colmer Weston received a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Michigan in 1966 and a Master of Library Science from Wayne State University in 1969. Now a certified professional librarian in the State of Virginia, she also completed postgraduate coursework at the Catholic University of America and Brigham Young University in 1975. Notably, Ms. Weston was chief librarian of the Army Ordnance Center and School on Aberdeen Proving Ground for 22 years from 1972 to 1994, as well as a reference librarian of the Technical Library in 1971. Prior to these appointments, Ms. Weston spent one year each as a librarian of General Equipment Test Activity in Fort Lee, Virginia, a branch librarian at the Chester Public Library and a reference librarian at John Tyler Community College. At the start of her career in 1966, she was a library clerk at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Ms. Weston attributes her career success to having a passion for what she does. She was the author of “Operating Procedures” in 1988 and enjoys needlecrafts, reading, dancing, traveling, attending the theater and participating in church activities. Ms. Weston and her husband are proud to have raised their three nieces and contributed to sending them to college. Her greatest advice to anyone looking to build a career is to attend college, as well as have wide experiences that can be applied to their desired field. Ms. Weston is a member of the Special Librarians Association, the Military Officers Wives Auxiliary of Cape Canaveral, Florida, St. David’s by the Sea Episcopal Church in Cocoa Beach, Florida, the Humane Society and SPCA of Tampa Bay, Florida, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Valrico, Florida, the Plant City YMCA, and the James Buchanan Foundation of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Previously, she was involved with Friends of the Cocoa Beach Library, Friends of the Atglen Susquehanna Trail, Fulton Opera House Foundation and Friends of the Library in Lancaster.
