204 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. Mohamed E. El Deeb graduated within the top 1% of his class from the Cairo University School of Dentistry in Egypt in 1972 and earned an MS in dentistry at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1979. He also completed residency training with the division of oral and maxillofacial surgery. A benign medical issue prevented Dr. El Deeb from entering the Egyptian military academy; at the time he was disappointed, but in time he felt lucky to fall into his current profession. Beginning in 1991, he served as a professor within the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Minnesota until attaining emeritus status, and was an international consultant for the World Hospital in Cairo from 2014 to 2016. Commencing his career as an instructor of oral surgery at Azhar University in Egypt in 1973, Dr. El Deeb went on to become an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota for five years, as well as an associate professor and director of research from 1985 to 1990. From 1985 to 1989, he was president of the Upper Midwest American Society of Dental Anesthesiology, and was director of the Union Gospel Mission Dental Clinic from 1982 to 1996. Later on, Dr. El Deeb served as director of the University of Minnesota Dental Implant Program from 1989 to 1991 and vice president of the American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Deformities Association. The recipient of the Union Gospel Mission Dental Clinic Service Award in 1986 and 1991, Dr. El Deeb is a certified diplomat of the International College of Oral Implantologists and American Society of Osseointegration. He recently published five papers on the future of dentistry in Egypt in 2019, and has published more than 100 research papers, abstracts and textbook chapters to professional journals and scientific publications. Dr. El Deeb is a fellow of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Association of Hospital Dentists, International College of Dentists and American College of Dentists.
