210 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine B acked by a BSN from St. Xavier University, Judith Eileen Hicks continued her education and achieved an MSN from the University of Illinois in Chicago in 1975. She commenced her career as a staff nurse turned nursing supervisor at Mercy Hospital in Chicago, later to be a renowned medical business professional with numerous accolades. Since 2009, Ms. Hicks has served as the chief executive officer of Beechwood Health Solutions, LLC. Prior to this appointment, she spent seven years as the president and founder of Focused Health Solutions, and from 1986 to 2001, was president of Children’s Memorial Home Health and Nursing Services. Excelling in her role, she was a vice president of nursing at the Children’s Memorial Hospital for five years. Earlier in her career, she was the director of obstetrics- gynecology nursing at Prentice Women’s Hospital of Northwestern Memorial Hospital from 1975 to 1981, as well as a consultant for the Illinois Nurses Association. Notably, Ms. Hicks has been recognized for her excellence in nursing, and in 2018, was granted the George Kennedy Distinguished Leadership Award from Lurie Children’s Hospital. She was also the recipient of the 2007 Nursing Alumni of the Year Award from St. Xavier University and the 2006 Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Ernst and Young’s Midwest Region. Additionally, Ms. Hicks was given the 1999 Ernst and Young Outstanding Illinois Nurse Leader Award and the 1998 March of Dimes Jonas Salk Leadership Award. Ms. Hicks’ advice to aspiring members of her industry is to be willing to try new things. She says that health care can be a fascinating area if you are curious about the nature of the work and environment. She thanks her aunt, Julie Clifford, for introducing her to nursing, as well as her husband Larry for being an inspiration. Ms. Hicks is a member of the Harvard School of Public Health Leadership Council and Nutrition Round Table, and a past member of the Institute of Medicine, Economic Club of Chicago and American Society of Nursing Administrators.
