Dr. Hofer received a BA in communication arts with a minor in health sciences from Oakland University in 1990, an MSA with a health services administration specialization from Central Michigan University in 1999, and an EdD in counseling psychology, pastoral community counseling and research from Argosy University in 2017. Notably, she was the recipient of the Award of Excellence in 1990, the Community Service Appreciation Award from ARC and the Martin Place Hospital in 1984, and the Excellent Leadership Award from Health Occupation Students of America in 1984. Prior to her current role, Dr. Hofer was president of Hofer International Ministries and associate pastor at Heart of the Hills Church. She has served in regional and other director roles at AlterraWyn- wood Continuing Care Assisted Living, Courtyard Manor Assisted Living Memory Care, and Pro Therapy of America. Earlier, Dr. Hofer was an ad- ministrator at Sterling Physical Therapy and Reha- bilitation and Total Therapy Management, Inc., as well as program director at Crittenton Hospital. Commencing her career as an instructor and lecturer at the Warren YMCA in Michigan, Dr. Hofer served as a professional model for six years before taking on an apprentice teacher television production role at Oakland University in 1990. For one year, she was a television and video producer for KND Videoworks through Oakland, and was a manager and counselor at Trim 4 Life Clinic. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Association of Christian Counselors and American Association of Pastoral Counselors. In 2017, she authored “Setting the Captives Free: Pastoral Perceptions of Human Trafficking in the United States.” W ithmore than35yearsof experience working in the health and human service setting, Dr. Bonnie Hofer has been serving as president of the Hofer Institute since 2017.
