Williams was a certified counselor and psychotherapist. She was also a diplomate of the National Association of Social Workers. Prior to her retirement in 2008, she served the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a psychiatric social worker of acute psychiatric treatment services since 2000, medical social worker of dialysis services since 1998, and medical and psychiatric social worker since 1974. Commencing her career as the director of the Huntington Program for Senior Citizens in 1963, Ms. Williams subsequently served as a psychiatric social work supervisor at Suffolk Psychiatric Hospital and the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene. From 1985 to 2002, she was an information referral counselor for the Mental Health Association of Nassau County. Additionally, she was a therapist for the Madonna Heights Family Clinic for five years. Ms. Williams is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and American Association of Family Counselors and Mediators. She was named 1987 Member of the Year by the German Philatelic Society, of which she once served as Chapter 30 president. UNA J. WILLIAMS CLINICAL NUTRITIONIST Chatham Hospital Silver City, NC D oris Albright Welborn obtained a BS in nutrition in 1982 and an MEd in nutrition in 1992, both from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. A certified diabetes educator since 1999, she is renowned for her advocacy in fighting to end the diabetes epidemic through policy-related trips to Washington, D.C., and work with the American Diabetes Association. As a clinical nutritionist serving Chatham Hospital since 2000, Ms. Welborn was involved in the creation of the American Diabetes Association’s National Certified Diabetes Program in 2003 to provide education to help diabetics prevent complications. Over the years, she has also served as a nutritionist for the Randolph County Health Department, food service director at the Medical Park Nursing Center, and clinical nutritionist for the Brian Center Nursing Home. Ms. Welborn was a recipient of a 1988 Certification of Appreciation from the Department of Human Resources in the State of North Carolina. She attributes her career success and drive to her husband, Renay Welborn, and her mother, Lynette.
