272 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT L earning the importance of engaging in civic duties from his parents, when Erik Edward Joh, Esq., began thinking of his future, he knew that having a law degree would serve him well in any field. In 1967, Mr. Joh received a BA from Dartmouth College and went on to achieve a JD from Albany Law School in 1970. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1971 and the Florida State Bar in 1979. Since 1991, Mr. Joh has succeeded as the president of his firm, Erik Edward Joh P.A., based out of Boynton Beach, Florida. Prior to this appointment, he served of counsel for Hinman, Howard & Kattell in Binghamton, New York, from 1989 to 1991, where he began as a partner in 1970. Additionally, since 1994, Mr. Joh has been president of Continental Corp. in Boston. His advice to aspiring attorneys is to partake in a summer internship before law school in order to familiarize oneself with terminology and basics of the practice. Mr. Joh has been a 65-year volunteer with the American Red Cross, from whom he received award recognition, including the Harriman Award for Exceptional Leadership in 2001 and the Leadership Award in 1995. He also received the Dean’s Award from the University of Arkansas, Steward’s Award from Dartmouth College and the Distinguished Alumni Award from Albany Law School. Throughout his career, Mr. Joh is most proud to have helped save lives through decisions he made via interpretation of law. He also takes great pride in working with compassionate volunteers and individuals who value justice. These people remind Mr. Joh of his mentors growing up, including his father, John Adam Joh, and Harvey Hinman. Mr. Joh is a member of the Florida State Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Capital Hill Club of Washington, Ocean Club of Florida and the Manalapan Yacht Club. He is also a board member of the Country Club of Florida Scholarship Foundation, as well as an honorary fellow of the American Academy for Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau. ERIK EDWARD JOH, ESQ.
