295 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine VICTOR IVAN CHORNENKY, PHD BIOMEDICAL SCIENTIST, RESEARCHER Minnesota Medical Physics LLC Minnetonka, MN been a principal scientist at Minnesota Medical Physics LLC in Minneapolis. At the inception of his career in Russia in 1968, Dr. Chornenky was a leading engineer and senior scientist at the Institute of Quantum Electronics. He served as a professor of physics at the Moscow Institute for Automobiles and Highways until 1989, simultaneously serving as a senior scientist at the Institute of Applied Geophysics. Upon his arrival to the United States in 1989, Dr. Chornenky spent one year as a scientist at the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. A visiting scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he was also a senior scientist at GV Medical, also known as SpectraScience. Additionally, prior to his current role, Dr. Chornenky was a principal scientist at XRT Corporation for five years and a staff scientist at Medtronic Corporation for one year. Some of Dr. Chornenky’s achievements include over 50 U.S. patents on medical devices for cardiology, cancer treatment, osteoarthritis, nephrology and ophthalmology. Additionally, his greatest career accomplishment is building his own company, where he is currently working on marketing, treatments and electric stimulation. Mr. Chornenky is proud of his past accomplishments, but stresses that the most important things in his scientific career are upcoming. He plans on working on cancer and diabetes treatment projects. A contibutor of numerous articles to professional journals, Dr. Chornenky thanks Pyotr Kapitsa, Laureate of Nobel Prize in physics, for motivating and inspiring him as his mentor. Dr. Chornenky attributes his success to concentration and passion. From his education, working with the sciences later became his profession in medicine alongside medical and treatment devices in physics. It was his niche, and he does not regret a thing. G rowing up as a straight-A student in his native Russia, Dr. Victor Ivan Chornenky was always told he would be a great scientist. Following those suggestions, he received an MS in physics in 1965 and a PhD in physics in 1974, both from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
