Since that time, he has steadily gained prominence in his field. At the inception of his career in 1952, Mr. Welch served as an accountant for Lamon & Henderson in Washington, D.C., for two years before commencing his tenure with the Association of the United States Army in Arlington, Virginia. Hired as treasurer and chief financial officer in 1952, he maintained those roles until 1992 before becoming the vice president of finance and administration. He retired in 2000. During his time spend with the association, he was also president of the board of directors of The Silver Thistle, Ltd., for a decade. Although retired, Mr. Welch continues his involvementwithvarious philanthropic endeavors. He has been a trustee of the Administrative Management Society Foundation since 1980 and was its founding and last president, having previouslymaintained affiliationwith the Arlington Committee 100 as secretary four years and chair of the board in 1997. Impressively, he was a founding president of the Administrative Management Society Foundation in 1980. Likewise, he was a designated fellow of the Institute of Administrative Management of Great Britain in 1997, and is former member of the American Financial Association and the American Society of Association Executives. A former captain in the United States Army in the early 1960s, Mr. Welch attributes his profound success to several factors, including his passion and dedication to his valued causes. He is honored by his employment with the Association of the United States Army and continued to serve as a consultant for the association for 18 years after his retirement. As a testament to his success, Mr. Welch has been decorated with the Armed Forces Reserve Medal and was highlighted in the 72nd edition of Who’s Who in America in 2019. A certified administrative manager since 1972, Arthur Stellhorn Welch is a distinguished association executive and consultant who has amassed more than six decades of experience in his profession.
