68 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine R oger George Aiken received a Bachelor’s degree in science in 1954, Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with honors, in 1956 and a Master’s degree in engineering, with distinction, in 1958, all from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. In 1983, he went on to complete postgraduate coursework in mechanical engineering at the University of Minnesota, 10 years after his arrival to the United States. Having combined his love for science with teaching, Mr. Aiken was the recipient of the Honeywell Futurist Competition Award in 1983 and Minnesota Energy Design Award in 1979. Prior to his retirement in 2013, Mr. Aiken was executive director and lead instructor for the Center for Renewable Energy Education and Demonstration (CREED) Project for 17 years. In the 1990s, Mr. Aiken served as a physics instructor at Augsburg College and HVAC at Dunwoody Institute. He also taught energy issues classes at North Hennepin Community College while also serving as principal for Roger G. Aiken & Associates in Falcon Heights, a role he still maintains today. Over the years, Mr. Aiken has served as an analyst to numerous institutions, including Honeywell, Inc., Synergistic Design and Engineering, and the Minnesota Energy Agency. Likewise, he worked for the Canadian Federal Department of Communications in Ottawa. Demonstrating versatility in his field, Mr. Aiken most recently authored “God, Creation, Discovery, Awe” in 2019, in which he shares his scientific knowledge entwined with his personal experiences with revelations and God through natural means. Soon, he plans to write a second book, tentatively titled “A Christian Case for Creation Care to Combat Climate Change.” Finding great success as a scientist and educator, Mr. Aiken takes great pride in sharing his wealth of knowledge. He attributes his success to God, his interests and motivation. He has been a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Twin Cities Energy Engineers, Minnesotans for an Energy Efficient Economy, Minnesota Renewable Energy Society, American Solar Energy Society and International Solar Energy Society.
