Dr. Cooperrider is most proud of his development of a theory summit of appreciative inquiry that helped build the field of positive psychology. This technique led to the development of the United Nations Global Compact, and he was additionally called upon by the Dalai Lama to develop the United Religions initiative, with over 10,000 centers around the world bringing people from different religions together to end religious conflict. A Nations Top Thought Leader by Trust Across America, Dr. Cooperrider is the co- author of the 1991 “Appreciative Leadership and Management,” and also authored “Appreciative Inquiry: Positive Revolution & Change,” “Appreciative Inquiry Handbook for Leaders of Change,” “Dimensions of Global Change: No Limits to Cooperation” and five books of “Advances in Appreciative Inquiry.” D r. David L. Cooperrider was always fascinated by human science, and upon a trip to Hiroshima as a college student, he questioned when we are going to study positive human relationships. This curiosity is what led him to his current career as an associate professor of organization, behavior and management at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Cooperrider received a BA from Augustana College, an MS from George Williams College and a PhD from Case Western Reserve University. He is the recipient of two Lifetime Achievement Awards from the American Society for Training and Development and Field of Organizational Development, as well as an Aspen Pioneer Award for Sustainability. Dr. Cooperrider is a fellow of the World Business Academy and a member of the Academy of Management, where he was president-elect of the organization development division in 1992 and the recipient of the Best Paper Award in 1988.
