81 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION D rawing upon 45 years of professional experience in physics and academia, Dr. David E. Miller is distinguished in his field for being an international lecturer within the United States and Germany. Ending his career in 2015 after teaching at Pennsylvania State University in Hazelton for 32 years, he attained emeritus status in 2010 and continued serving as a professor for the following five years. Prior to his tenure at Penn State, he served the University of Bielefeld in Germany in myriad capacities between 1975 and 1983, including as a scientific associate of physics and privat dozent. Likewise, he was a scientific assistant at the Free University of Berlin, having commenced his career in 1970 as a physics instructor at Stony Brook University. Drawing upon a BA in mathematics and physics, with special honors, from the University of Vermont, Dr. Miller also earned an MA in physics and PhD in theoretical physics from Stony Brook University. Thereafter, he received a habilitation in theoretical physics under Prof. Helmut Satz at the University of Bielefeld. During his studies, he received a Heinrich Hertz scholarship in theoretical physics and earned the 1962-1963 Chemical Rubber Company Achievement Award in Physics. Dr. Miller was previously active on Penn State’s university senate from 1988 to 1996, which he cites as a career highlight. Participating in their research committee and serving as secretary was a great honor. Likewise, he has been a noteworthy researcher, and published articles in scholarly journals and professional reports. He has also been a professional evaluator and referee for such scientific journals as Physical Reviewand the European Physical Journal. A speaker at conferences and lecturer through the Fulbright Program in Wroclaw, Poland, and Zagreb, Croatia, Dr. Miller has accrued numerous accolades. In 1997, he received the Fulbright Award from the University of Wroclaw in Poland and the Rudjer Boskovic Institute in Croatia in 2004. Furthermore, Penn State bestowed upon him the 2005 Outstanding Research Award. He maintains affiliation with the American Physical Society, the American Association of Physics Teachers, the American Mathematical Society, the German Physical Society and Sigma Xi. DAVID E.
