10 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ADVERTISING, MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS W illi Schalk is a distinguished advertising executive with more than 55 years of experience to his credit. Initially entering the advertising industry through his work in the client sector, he soon entered advertising and media, where he exhibited his passion for creativity, approaching new problems with novel solutions and meeting new individuals. At the inception of his career in 1959, he served as a product manager for Enka Glanzstoff AG for four years before becoming marketing manager from 1963 to 1966. From there, he joined Special TeamAdvertising Agency in Düsseldorf, Germany, as managing partner until 1970 when he joined BBDO Worldwide. At BBDO, Mr. Schalk first served as director, chairman and chief executive officer of BBDO Group Germany in 1969, a role he held for 21 prestigious years. He was also executive vice president and general manager of international operations at BBDO in New York for two years, as well as president from 1980 to 1986. After departing from BBDO in 1990, he joined McCann, A McCann World Group Agency as chairman and chief executive officer in Germany in 1997 until 2000. Since 2000, Mr. Schalk has been the founder of Team Consulting GmbH in Düsseldorf. He is proudest of being one of the founding partners of the building of the Omnicon Group, which was once the number one advertising agency in the world. Sitting on the board of directors of the New York office, he has also served as chief executive officer of M. DuMont Schauberg in Cologne, Germany. Civically involved, he has conducted pro bono work with UNICEF and UNESCO. The author of the book “Feature of the Advertising Industry,” published in 2020, Mr. Schalk has sat on the board of directors of the International Advertising Association since 1986. As a testament to his success, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Advertising in Germany in 1997.
