Gallagher has been serving as an associate professor of business at Johnson County Community College since 1999. Commencing her career as a professor at Metropolitan Community College in 1988, a role she held for 11 years, she previously earned an MBA from Creighton University in 1987. She also holds a Bachelor of Journalism in communication from the University of Nebraska. Ms. Gallagher draws upon a formative influence of her relatives, who were involved in academia. Hailing from this inspiration, she has always enjoys watching students learn and is proudest of creating an Introduction to Business course that can transfer to several other colleges. She also enjoys helping students understand complex business issues, such as economics and accounting. A former Sam Walton fellow, Ms. Gallagher also won the Freedom Foundation Good Citizen Award. She has four children, three of whom are doctors and one is an executive for a Japanese corporation. She also has seven grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, and would like to visit Morocco and Budapest in the future. PROFESSOR Johnson County Community College Overland Park, KS N ichelle M. Hayes is a librarian who specializes in African American literature, education and culture. Driven by a thirst for knowledge and passion for literature in her youth, she attended Valdosta State University, where she earned a BS in human resources and MPA in public personnel management in 1995 and 1998, respectively. In 2011, she received an MLS from Indiana University. Since 2016, Ms. Hayes has been the leader of the Center for Black Literature and Culture at the Indianapolis Public Library, where she endeavors to positively impact her community and educate others on the history of America and African diaspora. She served as a business librarian from 2015 to 2017. In light of her prowess in librarianship and literature, she has also been an invited guest speaker at Indiana University-Purdue University since 2018. Crediting her family’s influence for her success, Ms. Hayes is immediate president of the Indiana Black Librarians Association, past president of the International African American Genealogy Group and executive board member of the Black Caucus of the American Library Association, for whom she is current vice president.
