Affiliated with IEEE as senior member, WIE chair and programming competition chair, Dr. El Zein maintains membership with the Project Management Institute, Materials Research Society and American Association for the Advancement of Science. She has dedicated her time to the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace as vice president for scientific and academic affairs. Renowned for her research, Dr. El Zein is proud of obtaining her doctorate while working and raising her two children. Contributing articles to scientific journals and serving as co-editor and reviewer of international journals, she received the 2020 Consulting Management Award from CEO Today Magazine. She was also named a 2015 Solar Pioneer by the Middle East Solar Industry Association. She authored “ZnO Nanostructures for Photovoltaic Applications” in 2013. B oasting a background in nanotechnol- ogy and engineering, Dr. Basma El Zein received a master’s degree in engineer- ing from Lebanese University in 1999. After accruing years of experience, she earned a PhD in nanotechnology from the Uni- versity of Sciences and Technology of Lille in 2012. Upon receiving her master’s degree, she worked hard to build her career for 20 years in the academic, research and industrial fields. She now serves as Professor of Nanotechnology at the University of Business and Technology in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Alongside her term in academia, Dr. El Zein has been a project manager, researcher and engineering consultant since 2004. She is the founder and the Director-general for the Governance and Sustainability Center, and the founder and dean of scientific research at the University of Business and Technology since 2015. She was a research scientist at King Abdullah University for Science and Technology, where she previously served as a visiting scholar of the Solar and Photovoltaic Research Center, as well as visiting scholar at DR.
