118 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING U pon joining the Boy Scouts of America at the age of 11, Claude “Leo” Going Jr. was taught the value of responsibility, honesty and good citizenship. Now a life member of the National Eagle Scout Association, he has since utilized his skills as a Boy Scout as the foundation that has prepared him for his professional career in the aerospace and engineering industries. Prior to spearheading his career, Mr. Going enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and departed for service under the G.I. Bill. He went on to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he graduated with a BS in professional aeronautics and an MA in aeronautical sciences in 2003 and 2006, respectively. Now a 42-year NDE professional, Mr. Going has served with several aerospace companies throughout the course of his career. These companies include United Technologies, Pratt &Whitney Space Propulsion, the Kennedy Space Center and General Electric, where he has been a senior nondestructive examination engineer for the past decade. In recognition of his success, Mr. Going was honored with the NASA Group Achievement Award in 2008. Likewise, he was honored for his outstanding development of nondestructive evaluation equipment standards and techniques in 2007. Certified by the American Society for Nondestructive Testing in Radiography, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle and Penetrant Methods since 1986, Mr. Going is also a certified welding inspector by the American Welding Society. Outside of his professional development, he is a life member of the National Rifle Association of America, for whom he has been a certified instructor for gun and rifle safety. Presently, Mr. Going works with a 501(c)3 organization that provides gun safety training classes to disadvantaged children and families free of charge. Additionally, he participates in Eddie Eagle Classes, a series of cartoons produced by the NRA to teach children gun safety. In his retirement, Mr. Going intends to continue educating children and women about gun safety and advising how to enjoy shooting as a hobby. Married to his wife Karen, he has four children: Taylor, Kylan, Claude and Lacy. He also has five grandchildren: Bentley, Riley, Shannon, Mallory and Konner. CLAUDE “LEO” GOING JR.
