Notably, Dr. Law has been the inventor and co-inventor of 29 U.S. patents and he has contributed myriad articles to professional journals. Likewise, he is a past chairman of educational sessions for the Custom Integrated Circuit Conference from 1989 to 1990, a member of the technology committee from 1987 to 1993 and a member of the International Conference for CAD from 1982 to 1983. A life member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Dr. Law also maintains affiliation with Sigma Xi, Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu, who honored him as an Outstanding Young Electrical Engineer in 1983. Furthermore, he received the IEEE Solid-State Circuit Award in 2000. Married to Shuet-Ling Lynn Chan since 1973, Dr. Law has two children and two grandchildren. He is a native of Hong Kong. A s a young boy, Dr. Hung-Fai Stephen Law was interested in electronics and often spent his time playing with radios and other electronic gadgets. Deciding to attend college for electrical engineering, he graduated from Columbia University with a BS in 1973. Continuing his studies there, he received anMS in 1975, anMPhil in 1977 and a PhD in 1979. During his academic studies, Dr. Law served Columbia as a teaching associate for two years, and while pursuing his PhD, he was employed by Bell Laboratories until 1981. Promoted to a supervisor position until his departure from the company in 1984, he then relocated to San Jose, California, where he was the research and development director at Cadence Design System, Inc. until 1990. Over the course of his career, Dr. Law escalated through the ranks to various executive roles, including at such prominent companies as Aptix Corp., Optivision, Inc., Alaris, Inc., XVD Corporation and ZMOS Technology, Inc.
