125 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING became naturalized as an American citizen in 1973. Four years later, he spearheaded Minkwitz Design Service in Rockford, Illinois, where he specializes in automation and machine design. Among the notable highlights of his career, Mr. Minkwitz considers his work on a seatbelt testing machine to be a crowning achievement, noting that his accomplishment was contracted to General Motors through Rockford Automation, where he was previously employed as a translator and mechanical engineer. Subsequent to his development of the machine, General Motors purchased eight of his innovation and later on, tested millions of seatbelts for vehicle usage on a national and international scale. While serving Rockford Automation, Mr. Minkwitz was responsible for the design of drive-end components for use in Vari-Tran manufacturing conveyors. In addition, he designed a work holding fixture for microimaging processes, which has been patented by Sonoscan. Furthermore, he holds prior employment at Pentair, Inc., where he was a design engineer. The author of a distinguished memoir, which includes the detailed story of his escape from East Germany (the Russian sector) to West Germany at the age of 12 to his immigration to America, Mr. Minkwitz has been decorated with numerous accolades. Notably, Minkwitz Design Service was recognized as Ameritech’s Top Selling Agent of the Quarter for the first quarter of 1989. He was also recruited as a translator for a 10-hour conference between Rockford Automation and AGFA, which resulted in a successful sale. Attributing his success to his many mentors, as well as his natural aptitude for clear understanding of engineering concepts, dependability, punctuality and accuracy, Mr. Minkwitz intends to continue serving Minkwitz Design Service in the future while providing excellent service to his employees. A t the age of 9, Joachim “Joe” Minkwitz worked as a milk separator in his native East Germany, thus discovering his innate ability to distinguish engineering concepts and structures.
