14 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARCHITECTURE, CONSTRUCTION AND REAL ESTATE M anuel Delgado is a noteworthy architect, urban designer and educator who has served the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston for 18 years as a professor in the School of Architecture and Design. Beginning his teaching career in 1980, as Adjunct Assistant Professor in Caracas, Venezuela, he chose his profession because he wanted to submerge his Venezuelan students to the lessons of architecture in Mexican cities and the Modern architecture in Caracas to students nationally and internationally. In partnership with a solid team of architects and engineers from Medellín, Colombia, they won the international competition to transform La Carlota Aerial Base (Caracas) into a Metropolitan Park located in one of the largest and best located urban parcels in any city Latin America in 2012. Attributing his success to his passion for his job, he notes that he “never works a day in his life” because he enjoys his profession. Alongside these endeavors, Mr. Delgado has been a juror for international competitions and hosts an international practice in Venezuela and, for the past 20 years, in Boston. The co-organizer of the 2009 and 2013 Designing for Life International Symposiums, Mr. Delgado holds a Master of Science in urban studies and planning, with a special focus in urban design, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds a Master of Science in building restoration from the Churubusco Institute in Mexico and Bachelor of Architecture from Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas. Contributing his expertise, Mr. Delgado’s work was mentioned as an example of Ecological Urbanism in Latin America published by Harvard GSD in December 2019. Looking towards the future, he hopes to continue educating students in architecture and urban design. He spends one semester a year in Girona, Spain coordinating Wentworth Study Abroad program in Catalonia, Spain, where he lectures in the Department of Architecture annually. A board member for the Fenway-Kenmore neighborhood of Boston, Mr. Delgado would like to be remembered as someone who dedicated his work to the development of public spaces.
