As Mr. Floyd grew older, he developed an interest in landscaping and the environment, and shortly thereafter, he earned a Bachelor of Science in ornamental horticulture from the School of Agriculture at the University of Florida in 1981. Holding an irrigation license from the State of Florida, Mr. Floyd has been the owner of Impact Landscaping & Irrigation in Jupiter, Florida, since 2007, having spearheaded the company during the crumbling of the housing market. He notes that he developed the title of his company from the definition of the word “impact” and says that his work has had a positive influence on his community. Notably, Impact Landscaping grew 37% in 2018 and 40% in 2019, and he was listed among the Top 100 by Lawn and Landscaping Magazine for the 2017-2018 calendar years. Prior to establishing Impact Landscaping & Irrigation, he had developed a statewide landscape, irrigation and sod division for DiVosta Homes, which he ran for 23 years until 2007. Attributing his success to his fairness with his 400 employees and family-oriented nature, Mr. Floyd maintains affiliation with the Florida Nursery and the Growers and Landscape Association to remain abreast of developments and trends in the field. Married with three children and two stepdaughters, as well as two adopted children, he is contemplating on retirement in the hopes of passing down the business to his son, who is the current chief financial officer of Impact Landscaping & Irrigation. Likewise, one of his daughters is a physician’s assistant to a dermatologist and his other daughter is the co-owner of a magazine. Mr. Floyd currently resides in Jupiter, Florida, with his family.
