147 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENTREPRENEURS W ell respected in his community and nationwide, the late Donald C. Roystonmade a significant mark on the automobile world. The president of the Vintage Motor Car Club of America from1999 to 2018, he serviced the Southwest Florida region. Alongside his primary responsibilities, he was also a weekly columnist for the Sun Newspaper from 2008 to 2018, titled “You Auto Know,” and was the creator of a car show in Charlotte Harbor, Florida, which was held twice per year. Deriving his passion from an early interest in cars at the age of 14, his first purchase was a 1941 Lincoln Continental, which served as a catalyst for his career. Mr. Royston owned 79 convertibles and toured 44 states throughout the nation, as well as three European tours. In light of his automotive prowess, he appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” to discuss his ventures in 1996. Demonstrating versatility in his profession, he developed land in his spare time and was also active within the stock market beginning in 1961. Furthermore, he was renowned for his efforts in horseracing. Earlier in his career, he was employed by Eastern Savings Bank, and worked in marketing and public relations. Mr. Royston was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America in Hershey, Pennsylvania, from 1958 to 2018, and also held membership with the Charlotte County, Punta Gorda and Baltimore City Chambers of Commerce. He attributed his success to his bold, yet outgoing nature. A former volunteer for the Salvation Army for two decades, Mr. Royston also served in the U.S. Army. As a testament to his success, he was presented with a Citation for Community Service by Gov. William Donald Shaeffer of Maryland. Mr. Royston is survived by his wife, Leona “Lee” Royston, to whom he was married for more than 10 years. He passed away in November 2018, leaving behind a resounding legacy and influence within all of his fields of expertise.
