149 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENTREPRENEURS G rowing up on a farm and raising animals from a formative age, John Williams cultivated his love for animals and decided to pursue it as a career. Drawing upon a BA in animal and dairy science and an MS in animal science, both from Mississippi State University, he is well-known throughout the State of Tennessee as a dedicated veterinary technician and business owner, in which he boasts more than two decades of excellence in animal care. Since 2016, Mr. Williams has served as the owner of Ruff Country Dog Resort LLC in Eads, Tennessee, a three and a half-acre dog day care and boarding facility that provides premier care to dogs and their owners throughout Southwestern Tennessee. Although beginning his career with a passion for equine science, he later recognized that several more opportunities existed to create a business catering to dogs. Prior to his current ventures, Mr. Williams served as a veterinary assistant at Animal Medical Center and Purvis Equine Center, and also served Mississippi State University as a horse showmanager and graduate teaching assistant. Subsequent to earning a bachelor’s degree, he was employed by PetSmart as a support manager, assistant hotel manager and manager of the PetSmart Pet Hotel before spearheading Ruff Country Dog Resort. Certified in infectious disease management through Heroes for Healthy Pets, Mr. Williams has also taught equine workshops and was a judge for the Mississippi 4-H Horse Show. Likewise, he has contributed his expertise to articles in the Journal of Animal Science and Proceedings of the Equine Science Society, and maintains affiliation with the International Boarding and Pet Care Association. Mr. Williams attributes his success to the compassion he holds for his clients, as well as his meticulous care and attention he gives to each dog that enters his resort.
