Ms. Cook then relocated to California and served as vice president for International Investment Counsel, as well as for Sundance Homes California, Inc., both in Los Angeles. As she progressed in her career, Ms. Cook served in increasingly distinguished roles with such real estate management firms as International Capital Management in Beverly Hills, WSGP Financial Management Company in Century City, West Federal Holdings, Inc., in Marina Del Rey and William E. Simon & Sons in Westwood. In the latter stages of her career in the 1990s, she became an investment advisor and personal financial planner for IDS/American Express and Bank of America in Pasadena from 1994 to 1997 before becoming an investment advisor for LA Live Corporation from 1998 to 2000. A past administrator of the SSWS Law Office for two years, she has been the administrative assistant for the Thornton Corporation in San Marino since 2004. Drawing upon a BA in psychology from the University of California Los Angeles, Ms. Cook has served on several nonprofit boards and committees. She is a Registered Investment Advisor and holds a series seven securities license, life and variable annuities insurance license, long term care insurance license and real estate licenses in California, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Ms. Cook has maintained affiliation with the American Association of University Women, National Organization for Women, League of Women Voters, National Women’s Political Caucus and English Speaking Union. In light of her career success and accomplishments, she was highlighted in the 16th through 18th editions of Who’s Who of American Women. D esiring to provide for her family, Bette Walker Philpott Cook entered the workforce in 1964 as a personnel-testing specialist at North America Aviation in El Segundo, California.
