165 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine S ubsequent to graduating from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, with a Bachelor of Science in engineering in 1956, James L. Dozier was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Now a veteran, he served in Vietnamwith the 11 th Armored Cavalry Regiment, as commander of the First Squadron in the First Calvary and First Armored Division in Germany, and as a staff officer in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Research, Development and Acquisition in Washington, D.C. Later on in his military career, he was a commander of the Second Brigade in the Second Armored Division in Fort Hood, Texas, and chief of staff of the Second Armored Division. Thereafter, he was an assistant commander of the Armor School in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and advanced through the grades to major general. He served in the army for 35 years prior to retiring in 1985. While serving in Italy with NATO, Mr. Dozier was kidnapped by the Italian Red Brigades, who held him for 42 days before he was rescued by an Italian counter-terrorism team. He was subsequently welcomed at the White House by former President Ronald Reagan. He continues to lecture on kidnapping avoidance and kidnapping survival. Mr. Dozier draws upon a Master of Science in aerospace engineering from the University of Arizona, and also has past experience post-military as president of Golden Grove Management Corporation and Suncoast Media Group, general manager of David C. Brown Enterprises, owner of JCS Group and a security consultant. Likewise, he enjoys serving on nonprofit boards, such as Good Wheels and Disabled Veterans Insurance Career. He has also maintained affiliation with organizations that provide low-income housing for veterans. Mr. Dozier is in the process of writing an autobiography titled “Pole Star” and has authored articles in military journals. He was awarded with the Silver Star for Heroism and the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat in Vietnam. Other awards to his credit include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star with “V” Device and two Oak Leaf Clusters and an Air Medal. GOVERNMENT AND MILITARY JAMES L.
