167 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine GOVERNMENT AND MILITARY E nlisting in the United States Air Force in 1954, Marvin Konopik has served his entire career with the United States government, exemplifying his tenacity as a persevering military and government official. After departing from the military in 1957, he began his tenure with the U.S. Department of State seven months after he applied for the job, where he notably served as a communications officer for the following 38 years until his retirement in 1995. In his position as a communications officer, Mr. Konopik was responsible for the emergency network of the U.S. Embassy, which included radio and television. Also working as a cryptography officer, defined as an individual who writes and solves codes, he spent his time repairing various electronics within the Department of State, including typewriters and copymachines. Among the impressive highlights of his career, he is proudest of working in the Office of Mission Control in Washington, D.C., for two years. The recipient of a CCSM certificate in sub- machine repair, Mr. Konopik attributes his immense success to his determination and ability to see jobs through to their completion. Over the course of his career, he opines that his persistence to do jobs correctly and with precision was a learning experience of which he has gained valuable insight. In light of his government andmilitary success, Mr. Konopik has received numerous Meritorious Service Awards. Maintaining membership with Future Farmers of America, he was born on June 24, 1939 in Schuyler, Nebraska. Now residing in Las Vegas with his wife of more than 55 years, Yoko, Mr. Konopik intends to continue enjoying his well-deserved retirement in the near future.
