Mr. Raduege earned two Defense Distinguished Service Medals, an Air Force Distinguished Service Medal, two Defense Superior Service Medals, the Legion of Merit, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals and six Air Force Meritorious Service Medals. H arry Dale Raduege Jr. was inspired to enter the armed forces by his father and others who served in World War II. Graduating from Capital University in 1970 with a BS in education (mathematics), he was commissioned as a second lieutenant through the AFROTC program. Departing from the military in 2005, he last served on active duty as director of the Defense Information Systems Agency. In this role, he served the president, secretary of defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, combatant commanders and military services. During his five-year tenure, he also led efforts to restore communication to the Pentagon following the Sept. 11 th terrorist attacks. Concurrently, Mr. Raduege was the manager of the National Communication System for three years, where he helped restore more than five million voice and data circuits throughout New York City following the attacks. Additionally, he was the commander of global network operations for the U.S. Strategic Command.
