179 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS served as a caseworker for Springfield State Hospital between 1959 and 1961. She was also a field instructor for nearly 30 years, serving the School of Social Work and Social Planning at the University of Maryland as a clinical associate professor from 1987 to 1992. Currently, Ms. Alcon is a worthy matron of Elizabethtown through the Masonic Lodge Chapter #407, a title she has previously held three times. Since 2017, she has also been a plural member of Chapter #407 of the Elizabethtown Eastern Star and, since 1975, a volunteer for Hanover Area Council of Churches and a member of the church choir for All Saints Episcopal Church. Notably, Ms. Alcon was recognized as a grand representative, life member and worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a worthy matron of the Order of Amaranth and a supreme worthy president of the Social Order of Beauceant. In the mid-1990s, she was a worthy high priestess of the Samaria Shrine. Affiliated with the American Cancer Society and United Cerebral Palsy of South Central Pennsylvania, for whom she served on several boards and facilitated classes, Ms. Alcon was also active with the altar guild for All Saints Episcopal Church for nearly 20 years. Ms. Alcon draws upon a BA from McDaniel College (formerly known as Western Maryland College) and an MSW from the University of Maryland. Affiliated with the National Association of Social Workers, Academy of Certified Social Workers and the Hanover Hospital Auxiliary, she previously sat on the board for the Maryland Alumni Association. To attest to her success, Ms. Alcon received the 1999 Companion of the Temple Award and the 1979 York Daily Record Exceptional Citizen Award. She was also recognized with a certificate from the Colonel Richard McAllister chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1980. Alcon is a retired medical social worker who most recently served as director of the Department of Social Work at Hanover General Hospital in Pennsylvania.
