184 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS D r. Evelyne M. Davidson was introduced to the health care industry by her parents, who were both involved in medicine. Attending Vanderbilt University in her youth, she received a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering in 1983 before receiving an MD from East Tennessee State University in 1987. Subsequently, she completed an internship from 1987 to 1988 and a residency in internal medicine from 1988 to 1990, both at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center. After completing her residency, Dr. Davidson joined her father’s private practice in Knoxville, Tennessee, remaining there for the following four years. After departing from her father’s practice, she joined Baptist Primary Care System in 1994 as a physician until 1998 before being employed by Premier Medical Associates, a position she held for the following 11 years. Practicing as an internist since 2009, she has also been the medical director of the Knoxville office of Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice since 2011, where she provides comprehensive palliative care for individuals. Likewise, she has been a principal investigator of New Phase Research and Development since 2013. Maintaining affiliation with the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the National Medical Association and the Tennessee Medical Association, Dr. Davidson has spent much of her career reading medical journals, and remains abreast of innovative developments through talking with colleagues and attending medical education seminars. Enjoying the complexities of medical work, she opines that her journey in medicine has been rewarding, especially as a minority in the field of health care. She wishes to be an inspiration to not only the younger generations in her family, but also African American females as a whole. Listed in myriad editions of Who’s Who publications, Dr. Davidson enjoys traveling, reading, shopping and spending time with her family. She attri- butes her success to her perseverance when confronted with obstacles, and breaking down barriers when they present themselves as deterrents to her progress. She lives by the motto, “To whommuch is given, much is expected.” EVELYNE M. DAVIDSON, MD MEDICAL DIRECTOR Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice Knoxville, TN
