191 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS I nterested in pathology from a young age, Dr. Evelyn V. Gopez pursued a formal education in her native Philippines, where she attended the University of Santo Tomas and earned a BS in 1975 and an MD in 1979. Completing a residency in anatomic pathology at the university between 1980 and 1982, she relocated to the United States soon thereafter and served as an intern in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She received additional medical training at Berkshire Medical Center and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Gopez has been a licensed physician in the State of Utah since 1997, as well as board certified in cytology by the American Board of Pathology. During this time, she was employed by the University of Utah in Salt Lake City within their School of Medicine as an assistant professor. Over the course of her longitudinal career, she has also served the university as an associate professor, assistant dean, president and associate dean in the Office of Inclusion and Outreach. Since 2010, she has served as a professor in the Department of Pathology. Alongside her academic ventures, Dr. Gopez was the director of cytology at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Salt Lake City from 1998 to 2001 and has been the laboratory director of the Midvale Family Health Center since 2013. Likewise, he has been the founder and faculty advisor of the Health Sciences Multicultural Student Association since 2013 and faculty advisor of the Asian Pacific Association of Medical Students since 2009. Graduating from the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine pro- gram at Drexel University in 2013, Dr. Gopez has accrued many acco- lades. Most recently, she earned the 2019 American Health Council Award, having previously won the 2015 Health Care Heroes Award and two Advisor Service Awards, two Certificates of Appreciation, and two Certificates of Ex- cellence from the Latino Medical Student Association between 2010 and 2014. Notably, Dr. Gopez has contributed peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed journal articles between 1997 and 2017. She maintains affiliation with the College of American Pathologists, the American Society of Clinical Pathology and the Association of American Medical Colleges.
