198 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D rawing upon more than 50 years of experience in several fields, including academia, research and veterinary medicine, Dr. Margaret King is a renowned figure within the realm of animal health and wellness throughout the State of Oklahoma. Serving as the owner and medical director of King Mobile Veterinary Consulting Services since 2014, she boasts a passion for veterinary medicine and saving the lives of all types of animals. Previously engaged with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City, Dr. King was a postdoctoral fellow, research associate, staff scientist, director of the Laboratory Animal Resources Center and Science Supplementary Services, associate member and special assistant to the president between 1975 and 1993. Thereafter, she was the president, owner and principal veterinarian at the Acre View Pet Hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma, from 1995 to 2014. Furthermore, she has lent her expertise to academia, serving the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center as an adjunct associate professor beginning in 1988. Notably, Dr. King has been a consultant to such prominent organizations as the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute, during which time she conducted research on rats as cancer models and studied botany and free radicals. Influenced by the hard-working nature of her father, she opines that her broad background in various fields has lent credibility to her name, as she has the ability to apply different approaches to problems. Highly educated, Dr. King holds a BS from Central State University, PhD fromOklahoma University Health Science Center, MBA fromOklahoma City University and DVM from Oklahoma State University. She has maintained affiliation with the Oklahoma Veterinarian Medical Association, the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science and American Veterinarian Medical Association, among others. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to veterinary medicine, Dr. King’s business was named Bank of Oklahoma’s Small Business of the Year in 2007.
